In February principal Sarah Flynn was offered a position to open a brand new elementary school in Vancouver and accepted. Since the school opens this fall, she needed to get started in Vancouver this winter so everything is ready for the school to open. I was asked by the District to step in as the interim principal at Lincoln for the rest of this year. We all thank Ms. Flynn for her years of service to the students, families, staff, and the Lincoln community!
In just a few short weeks it is clear that Lincoln is a special place. I've been so impressed with the students, staff, and culture of our school. They have all been welcoming to the "new guy" who is learning the ropes at the school. Now, I get a chance to introduce myself to our parents.
I've worked in public education for almost thirty years as a teacher, principal, and central office administrator in Washington school districts. After a short tenure at the university level I made the decision this year to return to my roots and reconnect with the mission of schools to serve all kids. I'm very excited to be here and be part of this amazing team.
I look forward to meeting parents throughout the spring at events such as parent/teacher conferences later in March. Parents are an absolutely critical part of a successful school, so if you're at the school please introduce yourself! Together we can make magic for our kids.
